We talked about getting to Pete and Carol's in Minot, ND when we first started out in July. Finally made it on September 4th. We had a unique campsite...on a "dead end" piece of street right next to Pete and Carol's house. We were maybe 20 ft from the back door. Hard to beat that. Pete and Carol look "at home" on our couch...but, I'm quite sure neither of them would be comfortable without their "stuff." They purchased a "fixer-upper" in what their children describe as the Ghetto. Close to downtown...no ritzy houses, a couple of questionable neighbors...but definitely not the Ghetto.
Carol collects dolls...and they both collect antiques...They have taken this 8 bedroom home (which apparently used to be a "brothel" with secret escape routes, etc.), and transformed it into a showcase of the early 1900's period.
A lot of work and love went into the renovation.

We had a forgetful moment, AGAIN, and didn't have the camera with us when we went to Weylin and Sheila's new home for dinner on Saturday. Lovely...they've been working on it for a little more than 2 years...Almost done! But everyone was there for pics on Sunday, when we cooked out in Pete and Carol's back yard. Weylin, Sheila, Zane, Cale, and Daya. Also, Mariah and her fiance' Shawn, and his two children came up from Bismarck for the day. Derek stopped by briefly, but Dillon was working. A good time was had by all.
Ron insisted that he fit right in with the dolls just inside the front door...So laid down on the floor so that I could take his pic. :-) :-)
We left Minot for Medora on Tuesday morning. It rained and was Yukky the entire day on Monday.
Our next blog is the Scandinavian park in Minot...which we visited just before leaving town on Tuesday
