We spent the entire day in Glacier Nat'l park. It was a gorgeous day - we could not have had better weather, and as you can see by the pics...every view at every turn was more outstanding than the previous view. Wild animals? We saw only 1 deer...and passed a few "free range cows" on the road as we progressed through and around the park.
There were so many spectacular views...we had over 120 pics, and had to choose a few for your viewing.
They say there used to be over 250 glaciers in the park in the early 1900's...now there are less than 50 of any significance. Pics of little blocks of ice here and there on several of the mountains we passed. The only significant glacier within our view was on Franklin Mountain...and we have a few pics of that from several angles.
The last pic of Franklin MTN is by far the best, you must agree.
We entered the park at the West Glacier gate, and departed at East Glacier...and then drove all around the bottom of the park back to the West Gate...(about an 180 mile trip starting and ending in Kalispell...the first 90 miles took us about 3 times as long as the last 90 miles.)
The view of "goose island" just before leaving the park offers a great contrast showing the magnitude of the mountain range.
