Churchill Downs Louisville, KY

Sept 20, 2011   "On the Road Again"   We left St. Peters (Brad's driveway) at about 9:00 a.m. and headed to Louisville, KY  Although we had visited KY 18 mos ago, we never had a chance to visit Churchill Downs.  So we did!!!  What an experience.  Our guide took us through all of the various parts of the operation.  We went through the Jockey quarters.  Saw where the horses line up for inspection before a race.
Walked through the Millionaires Club, and the owners private rooms.  In the Millionaires club - where many of the celebraties watch the Kentucky Derby - it costs $60,000 to buy the "right" to buy $1,000 seats...usually at a table for ten...(their friends, of course).

A portrait of the owners, and jockies - which is added to by the artist, from France, each year as there is a new winner at the Kentucky Derby.

A look at the infield from the balcony in front of the Millionaires section.

And of course the crowning glory was the discovery of the "Hot Brown" at lunchtime - a famous dish from the Brown Hotel in Louisville.  We have mastered the recipe.  Ummmmm Good!!!
