Francis Coppola winery

October 31, 2010 Upper Sonoma County

There were fields and fields and fields and fields of grapevines along the way south of Cloverdale, where we were staying. The visitor center gave us a map of "which were the best to visit for tasting." We pretty much got stuck at the Francis Ford Coppola Winery - which was also sort of a day spa, and a museum for all of the movies directed by Francis Coppola.

We had a great "italian" pizza. Cheese, Proscuito, baby arugula, and mozzarella shreds on top. Very interesting. Very tasty.

We had a wine field tour with a great commentator. What you see here look like grapes...but they're already raisens. Missed the picking schedule. (Actually left behind, for a point of comment on the tour.)

More from the museum...the "Tucker" (currently valued at about 1 mil) from the movie "The Man and his dream" about Preston Tucker, the mavrik car designer. (One of the movies Coppola directed.)

And replicas of the ships from one of his movies. There were pics...but nothing spectacular at the museum representing his three Godfather movies.

Perhaps the man and all of his awards says it all.
